Our Field trip " Through the Roads" 🛣️
Our first destination was the Aruvikkara Dam, which is built across the Karamana River. The cool morning breeze and the calm water created a refreshing atmosphere. The dam plays a major role in supplying water to Thiruvananthapuram city. We walked around the area, enjoyed the natural beauty, and took group photos. It was a peaceful and pleasant beginning to our journey.🍁

Our B.Ed. field trip was conducted on 12 September 2025, and it turned out to be a memorable and educational experience 🌻. We visited four beautiful and historically important places — Aruvikkara Dam, Koyikkal Palace, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre, and Neyyar Dam. The trip gave us a wonderful opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and enjoy nature at the same time.🍃
Our first destination was the Aruvikkara Dam, which is built across the Karamana River. The cool morning breeze and the calm water created a refreshing atmosphere. The dam plays a major role in supplying water to Thiruvananthapuram city. We walked around the area, enjoyed the natural beauty, and took group photos. It was a peaceful and pleasant beginning to our journey.🍁
Next, we visited the Koyikkal Palace at Nedumangad. It is an excellent example of traditional Kerala architecture. The walls are built in such a way that wind enters easily, keeping the interiors cool. Inside the palace, we saw many old utensils, coins, and measuring instruments that were used in ancient times. A balcony was designed with a slope, and the stairs were arranged vertically so that no one could easily enter. The palace gave us a glimpse into the lifestyle and scientific knowledge of the past.
Our third stop was the Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre. This was one of the most exciting places of the trip. We saw elephants of different ages being taken care of with great love and attention. Watching baby elephants being bathed and fed was truly heart-warming. The caretakers explained how the elephants are trained and protected in the centre. It was a joyful and learning experience for everyone. 🐘
The last destination was the Neyyar Dam, surrounded by hills and lush greenery. The scenery was breathtaking and relaxing. We also visited the aquarium near the dam, where we saw a variety of colourful fishes and other aquatic animals. It was both fun and informative. The peaceful environment and fresh air made it a perfect place to end our trip. ⛰️
The field trip was a blend of education and enjoyment. It helped us understand the importance of preserving nature, culture, and heritage. We also strengthened our friendship and teamwork. The trip to Aruvikkara Dam, Koyikkal Palace, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre, and Neyyar Dam will always remain a beautiful memory of our B.Ed. journey. 👣
